This Is A Prequel and Other Opinions

This is a repost from another post I did about things on the web that I wanted to address. I thought it deserved it's own post. Also note the related post section and the editorial at the bottom.

-First of all Spartacus: God of the Arena is a prequel to Spartacus: Blood and Sand. It is not the second season. I believe Andy makes an appearance, but that is all. One more time: it's a--->PREQUEL<---. Not the second season. The prequel came about because of Andy's cancer. It was being done to give him time to recover and return for the second season. This brings me to the next point

-Andy's cancer returned and he had to pull out of the second season. Starz has embarked on a search to find an actor to replace him. At this point there's no word yet on whether there will be a second season at all,(*update, the second season has since been announced) but I hope there will be. I've heard a lot of:  "if Andy's not in it then I won't watch." Loyalty is a nice thing. Gawd knows I'm rather loyal myself. But this attitude isn't helping Andy.

He is supporting the continuation of the show. I seriously doubt he's sitting there saying to himself: I hope the second season is cancelled cause I'm sick and can't be in it. He doesn't strike me as the sort to wish unemployment on a heck of a lot of people. Just saying....... The man has enough to worry about! I think the best kind of loyalty would be to support the show.

-For anyone who says this show is pornography, I say they've never seen a porno flick! Hard or soft!(did I just say that, lol) Everytime I hear this, I can't help but think: they've lived an extremely sheltered life and are making a very uninformed pronouncement. Yes there are sex scenes, nudity, violence, bad language. This show is not for everyone. The show itself has said that! But there is so much more going on. The plots, the dialogue, the intrigue, the acting, etc, are all fascinating and amazing in an awesome way. And there are sex scenes btw in other shows--> Hello Tudors, Lost Girl, many more!

-Here's the definition of an actor: An actor or actress is a person who acts in a dramatic production and who works in film, television, theatre, or radio in that capacity. Lucy is an actress readers. She is not Xena. This is her work. Her career. She is in Spartacus now playing the role of Lucretia. One more time: she is not Xena, she is an actress. Typecasting doesn't help or support our favorite actors or actresses readers. Just saying........

I will always support my favorite actress.

I find myself curious about the prequel. I'm given to understand that a lot of things about season 1 will be fleshed out in the prequel, such as the history of some of the characters. I wonder if there will be any surprises in the prequel that will somehow interconnect with the upcoming season 2. Cause and effect! Or even some revelation that will make everything that happened in season 1 even more stunning and amazing. If I were writing it, I would totally slam viewers with stunning revelations! Either way whether this happens or not, I'm looking forward to watching it. I already know the writing and acting and dialogue will be magnificent!
